Theories of Writing

Theories of Writing is meant to instruct students in the history and application of writing from its very origins to the myriad of ways in which it manifests today—both in studies of writing and in a multitude of mediums. Over the course of Theories of Writing, I explored the ways in which writing took various shapes in the form of various, multi-media projects. From script-writing for a podcast format, to creative non-fiction meant to explore the boundaries of genre and form, it was my job as a student to learn the questions and answers posed by writing scholars, as well as answering them for myself.

The David Shneer Memorial Library

This is a creative non-fiction piece chronicling my job at the Center for Judaic Studies, where I have been dutifully cataloguing the David Shneer Memorial Library. This piece tells it from the third perspective, and was meant to be a look at myself from "the outside." The library was recently inaugurated in a celebration with Shneer's family.

This audiocast was an exploration of the origin of a word or phrase--and I couldn't help but to turn it into a conversational one. My favorite podcasts are the ones where two people talk, and while I still do most of the talking here, my partner Brandon is my literal other half in this audiocast where we talk about where, exactly, Christ got his middle initial.
