My Professional Work

This is the work I've conducted outside of my courses

The DU Writers in the Schools Program cultivates a creative, intuitive, and dynamic learning experience through the implementation of poetry, prose, and imagination throughout Denver schools. As guest teachers and creative writers, The Writers in the Schools Program supplements materials that may not be accessible to grade schools.

The program has been revived by Dr. Kelly Krumrie during winter quarter of 2023. The Writers in the Schools class allows English students to engage with hands-on, community learning and career development.

This project was funded by DU Grand Challenges and the Center for Community Engagement to Advance Scholarship and Learning, allowing us to further develop the Writers in the Schools Program during spring quarter of 2023 and winter and spring quarters of 2024. We have been working in partnership with the Ricks Center for Gifted Children to teach creative writing and hope to expand our outreach in the future.

The David Shneer Memorial Library

Over the course of the past seven months, I have been cataloguing the David Shneer Memorial Library, located inside DU's Center for Judaic Studies, turning personal copies of books into serviceable reading copies for student use and scholarship.

Donated by his widower in 2023, all of David Shneer's personal library is now accessible for students to read--and, by the end of DU's Spring Quarter 2024, these books (over a thousand!) will be systematically catalogued under the Dewey Decimal System and available for students to check out for a two week period.

Throughout cataloguing, I have worked extensively with the CJS to translate book titles, assess books' conditions, and create a searchable, workable catalogue--while also preserving as many of Shneer's personal affects found inside the books as possible.

Published Poem in Foothills

My poem "Second Shift Sewing Their Shirts" is being published in the 2024 publication of DU's literary magazine, Foothills.
